Our Story & Impact

Discover Our Work

Since her diagnosis in 2015, Sharon-Ann Phillips has been sharing her lived experience to raise awareness, inspire hope, and support people facing cancer and serious illness. Heartbreak to Hope CIC was founded to carry that work further, giving it a proper home and a clear voice.

Sharon's Story

From Patient to Advocate

Sharon-Ann Phillips was diagnosed with myeloma in 2015. Told that Christmas 2015 would be her last, she defied the odds and turned her experience into a mission to help others.

Her story has been featured in the Macmillan Christmas 2020 campaign, which raised almost £800,000. She has spoken with leading organisations including Pfizer and GSK as an insights panellist, and has spoken directly to their colleagues. Her book Why Me? My Fight for Life from Heartbreak to Hope was launched in South East London to a packed audience.

Sharon's advocacy work includes participation in Patient Voices initiatives, raising awareness of misdiagnosis and the ongoing support needs of cancer survivors.

Speaking & Advocacy

Featured by Dame Emma Walmsley, former CEO of GSK

Sharon-Ann was invited to speak alongside Sophie Castell, CEO of Myeloma UK, in a conversation chaired by Dame Emma Walmsley, former CEO of GSK — sharing her lived experience of misdiagnosis, cancer, and recovery in front of 250 GSK colleagues at their London headquarters.

This was a rare opportunity for a patient voice to be heard at the highest level of one of the world's leading pharmaceutical companies — a moment that underlines why Sharon-Ann's story matters beyond the personal.
